Welcome to your menu of weekend rides and events, lovingly brought to you by our friends at Hopworks Urban Brewery.

Can you believe it’s already Sunday Parkways season? This weekend kicks off the first of the five events. Whether you do it to celebrate Mother’s Day or not, grab your bike and roll over to East Portland to enjoy a seven-mile carfree loop with a few thousand of your fellow Portlanders. Who knows, you might just discover something new.

And have you seen the weather forecast? It’s going to be beautiful. We hope you’ve got something great planned. If not, perhaps our selections below will help you decide…

Friday, May 8th

Clinton Street Social Ride – 5:00 pm at PAZ PDX (SE 16th and Woodward)
Ride Clinton and help reclaim it as a bike street. This monthly event is a fun group ride that rolls between 12th and 39th. This is not about being confrontational, it’s about meeting new people and riding in a group to show other Clinton users that bicycles belong. More info here (FB).

Saturday, May 9th

National Train Day Ride – 10:30 am at Union Station in Portland (6th and Irving)

Experience how Portland history has been shaped by rails. Expect a 15-mile ride with many stops for educational enlightenment by Portland’s beloved urban historian Shawn Granton and a final stop at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center. More info here.

Sunday, May 10th

CycloFemme – Various times and locations

Join this global movement of women riding bikes! Portland has seven different rides to choose from this year depending on your riding style and experience. More info here.

Sunday Parkways – 11:00 am in East Portland
This will be a great way to spend Mother’s Day and kick off the Sunday Parkways season. The seven-mile route will be closed to auto use and will take you by natural areas with places to explore and parks with live music, food, community booths and more. Take part in this grand Portland tradition! More info here.

Burgers and Beer – 10:00 am from Sauvie Island Park
This Portland Wheelmen Touring Club ride will be a 35-mile route with 3,500 feet of elevation gain. From Sauvie Island, they’ll climb up McNamee Rd and stop for a break at Helvetia Tavern then loop back to Sauvie Island. More info here.
